10 years in the making
Josh and Andrew first met in Grade 10 at Markham District High School, right after Andrew transferred in. They became friends quickly and stayed close throughout university, always keeping up to date with what was going on in each other’s lives.
In their late 20s, while meeting for lunch regularly early in their careers, a question kept coming up:
“What if we tried building something of our own?”
At that time, group fitness was still extremely new — outside of cycling, CrossFit, and traditional step classes, there weren’t many options.
That idea became the spark that would eventually grow into Resilience.

THE GTA'S BEST HYROX PERFORMANCE FITNESS TEST
If you’ve been preparing for a HYROX race – or simply want to test your fitness in a true race environment – this is the event you’ve been waiting for!
On April 4, we’re hosting what will be the largest Resilience HYROX simulation to date, taking place inside the Field House at Resilience Durham.
What makes this event unique is the space. Because we’re inside the Fieldhouse, athletes will be able to complete full running segments just like a real race, rather than shortened loops or modified distances. That means you’ll be able to practice pacing, transitions, and race-day strategy in an authentic HYROX-style environment.
We’ll also be using professional timing chips – the same technology used at official HYROX events.
These chips will track:
• Total race time
• Lap counts on the course
• Penalties for missed laps or race infractions
This allows us to recreate the structure and accountability of a real competition, giving athletes meaningful feedback on their performance and race execution.
To maintain proper race standards, we’ll have over 60 volunteers positioned throughout the course to judge reps, monitor stations, and keep the event running smoothly. Their role is to ensure movements meet race standards so every athlete gets a fair and legitimate competition experience.

Join us starting at 8am on September 7th at Resilience Fitness in Durham for a full HYROX simulation hosted by @nikkipfit and the @resilience_fitness team. This is your chance to put your training to the test in a true race-day environment with Singles and Doubles divisions available.
